Pan-Fried Chicken!

This is a chicken recipe inspired by East-Asian ingredients like soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil among others. This is quick to put together and even a novice cook can make this with little effort. I would have to dedicate this recipe to my cousin, who is studying medicine and also has to cook for himself. Just like any normal student, medical or otherwise, away from home, he doesn’t have a lot of spare time to cook. Before starting his school last fall, he asked me how to make some easy recipes. Since then I have always been mindful of trying to make some easy and quick recipes that even he would be able to put together. So my dear brother, do let me know if you decide to try it 🙂

Pan-Fried Chicken

Pan-Fried Chicken

Ingredients:

6 chicken drumsticks, with skin on

Marinate:
1 tsp garlic paste
1 tsp soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
3-4 tsp oyster sauce
1-2 tsp sambal olek or chili paste/sauce
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Salt to taste
Oil to fry

Mix all ingredients of the marinade together. Coat the chicken with marinate and let it rest at least an hour, preferably more.

Heat (a little) oil in a frying pan and making sure it is hot before you start to fry the chicken. Fry them in high heat till chicken is nicely browned all around. Now, turn the heat to medium-low, cover the frying pan and cook until chicken is fully cooked for juicy chicken that everyone will love. Chicken drumsticks will take about 15-20 minutes to cook. One way to tell if a chicken is cooked, see if the juices are clear. If it is, then it is cooked.

Serve it with your choice of sides.
